Crouch Hall Road and The 157 Medical Practice Merger

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Our practices are planning to merge to create one practice with two buildings. Combining the clinical and management teams will improve our systems and offer a wider choice of services and appointments to all our patients.

We are asking for your views to help us with this merger. All answers will be anonymous and may be used to inform service improvement.

Why are the practices merging?

By coming together, we can improve and be more resilient. Our practices share the same values and ethos, striving to provide high quality medical care in a timely way with strong patient experience. We believe the most effective way to further develop our patient services and care for our local communities is to complete a full merger.

When would the merger take place?

If agreed the merger would occur over summer 2025.

Will I need to re-register to become a patient on the combined patient list? What will happen to my health records?

No, you will not need to re-register all the patients will be together on one list.

Will I have to go to another GP practice site for consultations or treatment?

Not unless you want to. All patients will be able to access care at their current site, but if the other site is more convenient for you, you can go there. The sites are 0.9 miles from each other.

Will one of the buildings close?

No, both buildings will remain for the foreseeable future.

Will surgery telephone numbers change?

We will have one number, and the new number will be 020 8340 5952 after the merger.

Will this make it harder to contact the surgery by telephone?

No. There will be the same numbers of people answering the phone and the same number of phonelines coming into the practice.

Will I still be able to make an appointment to see my usual GP or Nurse?

Yes.

Will there be any changes made to the way I book appointments?

No. You will still be able to book via telephone, coming into the practice or online.

Will I still be able to book an appointment using online access?

Yes, you will. That remains unchanged and you can use your existing login details once the practices merge.

Will my usual surgery opening times stay the same?

Yes, there will be no changes to our core opening times which are Monday – Friday 8am to 6:30pm. Additional extended access for patients will continue as normal at Crouch Hall Road and are provided outside of normal GP core hours to all our patients.

Will the intended merger affect any treatment or medication I am currently receiving?

No. Any current treatments, medications, investigations and/or referrals will not be affected by our intentions to merge.

Will any service that is currently offered by my usual surgery be stopped or removed?

No. If anything, we anticipate that the merger will bring about a greater choice of services for patients.

Will any staff be made redundant?

No. All staff from both practices will continue to be employed. All staff will be employed by Crouch Hall Road.

Will there be any change to how I access the GP out of hours service?

No. To access a GP when the practice is closed, you will continue to telephone the NHS 111 service and they will either signpost you to the most appropriate service or arrange for you to access a GP. Additional access will still be provided at the local HUB site at Crouch Hall Road.

Will I still be invited for my long-term condition annual review?

Yes, you will be contacted to make an appointment when it is due, which is usually your birth month each year.

Will the current arrangements that I have in place for getting my medication stay the same?

Yes.

Will the practice continue to have a Patient Participation Group?

Yes. We will work with PPG members from both practices and hope to take this opportunity to form one Patient Group. We would encourage any patient who would be interested to join our Group.

Who makes the final decision? Is it already a ‘given’ that it will go ahead?

The practices are in the proposal stage. After we have informed every one of the plans and given the chance to give feedback, North Central London Integrated Care Board will take this on board when deciding.

Will my feedback be listened to?

Yes. We really value the input our patients and stakeholders can contribute to this process. We are trying to provide the best possible service to meet our patient, and community needs so your views and feedback are important to us. We will look at your feedback and see if there is anything that can help us to improve services.

Will the intended merge affect any treatment or medication I am currently receiving either at my usual surgery or any hospital?

No. Any current treatments, medications, investigations and/or referrals will not be affected by our intentions to merge.

How will you make sure there is no reduction in the quality of services that are provided?

This is our number one priority. We will continue to work hard to meet national and local targets and being flexible in our response to meet patient needs.

If I have further questions, I would like to ask or comments to make, how do I do this?

Please contact Michelle Rina.  We aim to respond within 5 working days. We value your opinions and would be grateful if you could spare some time to complete our survey.
